Why this tool works this way
The first Tier 2 path: the client requests a signed upload, stores a temporary file in R2, records a job in D1 and polls status. The production worker adapter is wired and ready; processing degrades safely until an encoder is attached.

Is Compress video free to use?
Basic browser-local processing is free. Batch and larger workflows may carry Pro limits.
Where does my file go?
This workflow may store a temporary object in R2 so the worker can process it. Free retention is 24 hours and Pro retention is seven days, with automatic lifecycle deletion.
Which output should I choose?
Accepted outputs include MP4. Choose MP3 for broad audio compatibility, WebP/JPEG for images, SRT/VTT for subtitles, or the format requested by your publishing destination.
